What is Homeland Security preparing for in Jersey City?

Homeland Security (DHS) or, Heimatschutz if you’re curious about the German origin of the term, has deployed what appears to be a solar powered monitoring station to Jersey City.

Sure, we all know the area was hit by Sandy last year but does building a police state solve those potential problems? There are a few worthwhile points to consider here:

Starting in 2012, DHS has secured roughly 2 billion rounds of ammunition; enough to sustain a 20 year domestic war. Much of the ammo purchased is hollow point which is illegal according to the Geneva Conventions. Apparently, DHS feels entitled to ignore congressional inquiry into the matter.

Getting back to Jersey City, JCPD has deployed its “eye in the sky“. It was pitched to help fight crime but I say it is right out of the standard wartime play book.

Let’s give a moment of thought to what retired Army Captain Terry M. Hestilow has warned in a letter to Senator John Cornyn:

Dear Senator Cornyn,
It is with gravest concern that I write to you today concerning the recent appropriation of weapons by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that can only be understood as a bold threat of war by that agency, and the Obama administration, against the citizens of the United States of America.  To date, DHS has been unwilling to provide to you, the elected representatives of the People, justification for recent purchases of almost 3,000 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) armored personnel carriers, 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition (with associated weapons), and other weapons systems, when, in fact, the DHS has no war mission or war making authority within the limits of the United States of America.
